Northland Furnishes Yellowstone’s Canyon Lodge Facelift

Even as we move into February, with winter literally all around, it is still difficult to not think ahead to spring and summer. Thanks to increased rain and snow, we can expect nature to put on an amazing display after the spring thaw. This may be a good time to visit our national parks, especially Yellowstone.

Last fall, Yellowstone National Park completed an ambitious construction project, focused around Canyon Lodge. Canyon Lodge, the largest of the park’s nine lodging facilities, underwent a major facelift. Five large modern lodge buildings, each with approximately 80 guest rooms, replaced all 350 of the Frontier and Pioneer cabins. With the completion of the project, Canyon Lodge now has 590 guest rooms.

Canyon Lodge’s project resulted in over 400 new rooms

They needed furniture for the project, and that is where Northland came into the picture. Located on the east side of the park, near the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone River, Canyon Lodge’s two-year redevelopment project resulted in over 400 new guest rooms. For the project, we shipped over 9 fully loaded 53’ semi-trucks of blanket-wrapped furniture. The furniture was custom-designed, hand-distressed Alder. We sent the following pieces over to Canyon Lodge:

– 758 Headboards with down-facing puck lights
– 443 Nightstands
– 411 Activity tables
– 340 Refrigerator cabinets
– 20 Three-Drawer desks
– 20 End tables

Northland finished 2016 on quite a high note. We also found ourselves busy with several projects in the Yellowstone Park vicinity. In addition to the furniture we produced for Canyon Lodge, we also produced pieces for:

On August 25, 2016, the National Parks Service turned 100! With this exciting centennial comes 100 years of nature, wildlife, history, culture and adventure that can only be found in the great outdoors. Northland has proudly provided national parks furniture across the country. We’re proud to be a part of your outdoor recreational experience and are excited for the future of the National Parks Service.

National Parks Furniture

The National Parks Service wanted to replace furniture at key locations leading up to the Centennial year. Northland is proud to be a small part of the experience of the thousands of people that visit these facilities each year. The following locations were part of the renovated furniture provided by Northland:

All of the pieces were designed to be specific to each property. Some of the pieces were designed by others, with additional designs done in-house at Northland. We’re extremely proud of the work put into these projects and the final products that are now enjoyed by thousands of visitors to these parks every year.

Northland Working on New Furniture for Canyon Lodge Redevelopment

Northland Furniture Company is pleased to announce that we are currently in production on a new furniture project for Canyon Lodge and Cabins, located in Yellowstone National Park. The Lodge features the most accommodations in Yellowstone with more than 500 rooms and cabins. In a continued effort to improve and care for the facilities, Canyon Lodge is currently in the redevelopment process. Northland has been hired to manufacture new hospitality furniture for the Canyon Area Lodging Redevelopment.

Canyon Lodge Redevelopment Project

Newly constructed cabins and rooms at Canyon Lodge in Yellowstone feature lodge and hotel furniture specially designed and manufactured by Northland Furniture Company. The scope of the redevelopment during the summer of 2016 includes:

  • Construction of two new lodge continues in 2016
  • Light exterior work and landscaping around the three completed lodges
  • Exterior and road work on and around the two new lodges
  • Enhancement of Food & Beverage building including addition of two new public restrooms

Accommodations

Northland is proud to provide the lodge and hotel furniture for Canyon Lodge and Cabins. Within the cabins, three current lodges and two forthcoming lodges you’ll find new furniture from Northland that completes the mountain lodge atmosphere guests have come to expect and cherish in Yellowstone National Park.

  • Standard Lodge Room with one queen bed
  • Superior Lodge Room with two queen beds
  • Premium Lodge Room located in the Cascade and Dunraven Lodges, attractively decorated with western-themed lodge furniture
  • Suites with one king bed and one queen bed in separate bedrooms
  • Western Cabins with modern furnishings and two queen beds

ADA rooms are available for each of the different kinds of accommodations at Canyon Lodge and Cabins.

Canyon Lodge and Cabins is located on the east side of Yellowstone National Park near the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone River. Open from the end of May through late September, Canyon Lodge provides visitors with the ideal Yellowstone lodging experience. Guests staying in the recently renovated Western Cabins and the forthcoming new lodges will experience new, custom hotel furniture from Northland.
